LISTENING
CIRCLE
“Listen and attend with the ear of your heart.” St Benedict of Nursia
Is your organisation stuck? Are people afraid to say what they really think? Has growth become stunted. A listening circle gives organisations and groups a chance to listen to it’s members by participants being able to safely express what they are thinking and feeling. This form of dialogue is inspired by Native American councils. It is an ancient form of meeting that people have used to conduct respectful conversations for thousands of years.
Using a range of tools and my attention, I am skilled at carefully holding and protecting a space that allows people to deeply listen to each other and express their true thoughts and feelings. The key element of the listening circle is the willingness of its participants to shift from a formal, opinionated, discussion into a receptive and thoughtful process of speaking and deep listening.
Listening circles facilitate conditions for people to work together to solve coict or make decisions in a safe, unexpected and productive way.
